Highfield stands as a monument to those who, by choice or coercion, found themselves on this lonely but beautiful headland in the early 19th century.
Throughout a long restoration, paint scrapings, fragments of original wallpapers and painstaking conservation have revealed something of the homestead’s former grandeur. Wander through Highfield’s rooms and learn about the people who once lived and laboured within its walls. Take the time to appreciate the architecture and its beautiful gardens overlooking Stanley.
Open daily 9.30am to 4.30pm, and closed Christmas Day and weekends during July.
