Hursey Seafoods, in the historic town of Stanley, is a fishing fleet and restaurant, takeaway and outlet institution. With its fleet of nine vessels, it provides Tasmania with unparalleled access to the state’s freshest seafood.
In 1974 James Senior and Valerie Hursey relocated from Dover to Stanley. In 1987 they expanded their fishing fleet to include a dining and factory establishment in memory of their son, Patrick, who was lost at sea in a rescue mission.
Hursey Seafoods is a major player in catching celebrated southern rock lobsters, which are retained live in tanks to ensure premium taste and supply year-round. The restaurant showcases the best produce of the north-west and offers the ultimate Tasmanian tasting plate, comprising Cape Grim scotch fillet, abalone, pickled octopus, natural oysters, scallops and, of course, the famed rock lobster.
Generations of Hursey’s have crewed the fishing vessels and worked in the restaurant, forging strong ties to the Stanley region. Whether out on the seas or ashore, Hursey Seafoods strives to provide a memorable seafood experience for all.
