Penny Royal Launceston is a village complex, offering a Tasmanian theme-park experience, with food, entertainment and adventures for young and old. Set against a backdrop of Tasmanian history visitors can experience adventures and shows transporting them back to the early days of Van Dieman’s land.
Be immersed in the daring escapades of notorious bushranger Matthew Brady – escape the gun and live to tell the tale as travel aboard a barge on the ‘Matthew Brady’ Dark Ride to the Van Dieman’s Land of 1825.
Adventure guests can conquer the thrilling cliff walk across a dozen rope bridges suspended above the Penny Royal, or take the challenge of the indoor and outdoor rock-climbing walls. There are zip lines flying 100 metres across the grounds and a 20-metre cliff jump that gives the ultimate adrenaline rush.
Families can also enjoy gold panning, gemstone fossicking, barefoot sensation and remote controlled boats. Other experiences available include cruising the lake aboard the Brig tamar, exploring Sarah Island and meeting the ghosts of convict’s past.
You definitely won’t go hungry at Penny Royal, with some of the island’s best food and wine showcased in the complex’s restaurants, bars and cafes. Penny Royal Café and Restaurant offers contemporary dining, while the Relbia wines cellar door has a selection of award-winning local wines and share platters for a more casual affair. Try woodfired pizzas and craft beer at Brady’s Tavern or ice creams, high quality espresso coffee, cold drinks and pancakes at the Ice Creamery Café Takeaway.
Penny Royal Launceston is a great event location too for a special occasion. Each space provides stunning views of the complex and an abundance of natural light and can cater for a range of functions from 25 to 350 guests.
