We are a small family owned and run vineyard nestled in the acclaimed Coal River Valley in Tasmania’s south-east. Established in 1997, Puddleduck is owned by Darren and Jackie who between them have over 50 years’ experience in the Tasmanian wine industry.
Puddleduck currently produces around 1200 cases of wine from 3.5 hectares of vines and sells it exclusively from the cellar door located at Richmond.
We are renowned for our sparkling wine called Bubbleduck, and our Reverse BYO where you bring the picnic food and we supply the beverages.
Varieties grown are riesling and pinot noir, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc.
The pristine environment, coupled with the long slow ripening period of the Tasmanian autumn, is what makes the grapes so amazing and, as a result, the wine so exceptional.
Other contributing factors to the high quality are that the grapes are picked by hand and processed within an hour or two, which ensures that the wines that result are some of the best money can buy.
Our name Puddleduck comes from the ducks diving for food on the dam – when Jackie was a little girl her mum called this ‘puddling’.
