Devonport Jazz Festival

July 2017

The Devonport Jazz Festival is an award winning annual musical festival held in Devonport on the Tasmanian North West Coast every July.

The Festival takes place in a variety of venues across the city, from the Devonport Entertainment Centre, to arts venues, cafes, restaurants, pubs, churches and community halls.

Devonport Jazz is a celebration of all jazz genres, with each festival program aimed to appeal to young and old, to enthusiasts and those new to the musical style.

Great Eastern Wine Weekend

9 to 10 September 2017

The Great Eastern Wine Weekend is held annually and showcases the region’s finest food and signature drops.

The two-day event, held 9 to 10 September, offers an exciting occasion to explore Tasmania’s east coast wine region through a variety of special events and cellar door discounts. Visit cellar doors along the Great Eastern Drive, visit the Freycinet Marine Farm, cruise with Wineglass Bay Cruises and stay at Freycinet Lodge for the ‘Great Eastern Wine and Dine’ gala dinner on Saturday 9 September.

Bloomin’ Tulips Festival

10 October 2017

Richard Gutteridge Gardens provides the picturesque backdrop for a colourful and exciting day that culminates with a fireworks display just after dark.

Garden beds around the town are bursting with colourful tulips while nearby Table Cape the Tulip Farm welcomes visitors. Fields of vibrant tulips entice one to walk along the long rows and savour the experience.

Live entertainment all day and roving performers (like the giant animal and flower stilt walkers) provide delights for the whole family. Over thirty food and beverage stalls cater for all tastes while a similar number of community and craft groups provide an insight into activities happening in Waratah-Wynyard all year round.

Taste of Tasmania

December 2017 to January 2018

Tasmania’s most popular and enduring summer event, The Taste of Tasmania, returns to Hobart’s waterfront.

Seafood, cheeses, berries, cool-climate wines, boutique beers and ciders and much more, representing regions from right around the state, are on offer at close to 70 stalls located both inside the Princes Wharf No.1 shed, and outside.

The Taste of Tasmania features a fabulous entertainment program, with more than 100 buskers, local musicians and DJs performing throughout the event.

Tasmanian Christmas Carnivals

December 2017 to January 2018

This annual event consists of seven separate carnivals, kicking off in Rosebery on the west coast and winding up in St Helens on the east coast. The other locations are Hobart, Latrobe, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie. The carnivals comprise a range of athletic and cycling events, with the Burnie Gift a particularly popular drawcard.

Junction Arts Festival

6 to 10 September 2017

Junction is Launceston’s unique arts and culture festival, where artists and audiences come together in exciting new ways within unusual spaces. It puts the audience at the heart of the action over five days and nights throughout the town. Previous festivals have included riding on the back of motorcycles, experiencing a performance inside a carwash, listening to live music in the backyards of amazing houses, travelling back in time to a secret late night speakeasy and having a sauna in a public park.

Blooming Tasmania Flower and Garden Festival

23 to 24 September 2017

Blooming Tasmania showcases Tasmania’s unique garden attractions punctuated by amazing scenery, fascinating history and incredible food and wine experiences. One of the most notable events is a flower and garden festival at Albert Hall in Launceston, exhibiting a range of flower and garden related businesses and groups. The festival’s significant offering has diverse stallholders, with 45 exhibitors displaying a range of garden products, knowledge and experience.

Effervescence Tasmania

17 to 19 November 2017

The Effervescence Tasmania Sparkling Weekend is a celebration of the island’s renowned sparkling wines. Developing a reputation as one of the best sparkling wine festivals in the world, Effervescence Tasmania celebrates some of the world’s finest sparking wines. The sparkling producers featured are by invitation only, ensuring only the highest quality wine is presented to guests. Fresh Hop Beer Festival

Fresh Hop Beer Festival celebrates the annual Tasmanian hop harvest, where the brewing community comes together to showcase the freshest brews of the year.
