The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) is the island’s leading natural, cultural and heritage organisation. It is a combined museum, art gallery and herbarium that safeguards the physical evidence of Tasmania’s natural and cultural heritage, as well as the cultural identity of its people.
TMAG cares for the State Collections of Tasmania – almost 800,000 diverse artefacts, from fossils to fine art. The collections represent the essence of Tasmania’s societal values and are a major reference point for those wishing to gain a greater appreciation of what it means to be Tasmanian and to understand the island’s place within the global community.
